If you hold an EP or S Pass, you might want to bring your family when relocating to Singapore. They will need a

    Long-Term Visit Pass (LTVP).

This pass allows you to bring your common-law spouse, step-children, or handicapped child to Singapore.

  • What Is a Long-Term Visit Pass in Singapore?

Singapore is a top destination for foreign workers, but there are restrictions on how many family members can accompany them. The Long-Term Visit Pass (LTVP) offers a solution by allowing certain family members to live in Singapore.

The LTVP permits residence in Singapore for family members of those holding a valid Employment Pass (EP) or S Pass. Additionally, it is issued to foreigners who wish to stay in Singapore for more than 30 days.

  • Difference Between the Dependant's Pass and LTVP in Singapore

You might be familiar with the Dependant's Pass, which also allows family members to stay in Singapore. While both the Dependant's Pass and LTVP serve similar purposes, they have key differences.

The LTVP is issued by the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA), whereas the Dependant's Pass is issued by the Ministry of Manpower (MOM). This guide will further explain which family members are eligible for each pass.

  • Eligibility for a Dependant’s Pass

If a foreign worker in Singapore wants to bring their legal spouse and/or child, they can apply for a Dependant’s Pass through the Ministry of Manpower (MOM).

    General Information about LTVP

Most LTVPs allow for an average stay of 2 years, with some cases extending up to 3-5 years, evaluated on a case-by-case basis by the ICA. LTVP holders are generally not allowed to work unless they have a work visa or their employer applies for a Letter of Consent (LOC), which is available to some Dependant’s Pass and LTVP holders.
